To play or not to play!!????

I'm hosting a concert for my students. Many of them will be playing from grade 2 to diploma standard. I thought I'd kick it off with a solo performance by me. My darling husband suggested I shouldn't be performing as it's for my students and not me. He likened it to a school concert and the impossibility of the music teacher giving a solo. I will also be accompanying and doing a couple of flute duets and a piano duet. Is it ok for me to do a solo too? Let me know your thoughts? X
