School Vs Private Lessons?
I try my utmost to make sure all my students receive a full musical and educational experience but is it ever really possible to do this as well in the school environment?
My school students are often late, often I need to find them and remind them of their lesson! I've been told I shouldn't have to fetch them but I do and I try to make up any missed time. My school students often forget their books! Much more than my private students who are being packed and escorted by their parents. School students often swap their lessons with their friend, their friend then forgetting the new time.
My private students all have a fixed time, whereas I rotate all my school students to make sure they don't keep missing the same classes.
My private students are fully supported by their parents who bring them. My school students are often hindered by their teachers not wishing them to leave their class lesson.
I try and make things as easy as possible... writing times in planners, reminding students, emailing timetables to parents, explaining timetables in great depth to students... but still the problems persist.
If anyone has any great ideas I'd love to hear them xxx
