Adult learners
There is literally nothing to stop you from becoming a proficient musician as an adult..... only you! I teach many adults but the problem I find most is their over perfectionism. As an adult if you spend time doing something you expect to see immediate results and so quickly lose heart when you don't reach your expected standards quickly. Set realistic goals and work at a reasonable rate. Don't expect over night results but expect that music takes time and you need to find the way of learning that is best for you. Don't put pressure on yourself. There will be days, weeks even months when life gets in the way. Keep your goal in mind and remember that there is no rush, it can be a long journey.. but it is a wonderful journey! Find pieces you love at grade 1 level, then grade 2, 5 and 8!!! Enjoy yourself and look for all the wonderful benefits in playing music. Please don't give up because you don't feel your making sufficient progress!!! Choose your destination and don't stop until you get There!!!! X
